Annual Giving Campaign 2006-2007 FAQs
What is Annual
Giving?
The Annual Fund is a yearly appeal for donations to support the current
operations of the school. Each gift helps enhance the day-to-day life of
every student and faculty member by supporting a variety of programs,
including the arts, athletics and technology. Annual fund monies are
raised and spent within the same fiscal year.
Is Annual Giving
used for Financial Assistance?
No, however, the tuition does not cover the actual cost to educate a student
at SRS. Support needed beyond tuition comes from gifts, grants, and Annual
Giving. In essence, every student receives financial assistance from the
Annual Giving Fund.
Are Annual Giving
gifts tax deductible?
Yes. SRS is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Gifts are tax
deductible under applicable IRS regulations.
Who gives to
the Annual Giving Campaign?
Everyone in the school community is encouraged to give according
to their ability. Teachers, parents, and trustees alike are supporters
of the campaign as well as grandparents, alumni parents, past parents and alumni.
Why do we need
full participation?
Your tax deductible gift, whatever its size, signifies your commitment to
SRS which in turn represents our dependence on each other, and helps with
fundraising from corporations, foundations and other sources.
When can gifts
be made to the Annual Giving campaign?
Donations
can be made to the annual fund any time during the fiscal year of July 1st
to June 30th. Early gifts significantly reduce mailing and related costs
saving annual giving dollars for their intended use.
Can I use the
matching gift program at my company?
Yes. There are more than 500 companies in the U.S. that match gifts for education.
Check with your Human Resources Department to see if your gift qualifies.
Does SRS accept
only cash donations to Annual Giving?
No. Both cash and securities are accepted as gifts. Other gifts can be arranged
through the Development Office.
What are the
Honorary Clubs?
Honorary clubs have been established to encourage and recognize leadership
donors.

or to an area that he/she feels needs the support.
Can the Headmaster
appropriate funds to other areas than directed?
Yes. If the amount donated to one fund exceeds the approved annual budget
and the Headmaster anticipates another area has financial needs, he may redirect
those funds at his discretion.
