Fine Arts in the Middle School

Middle School Art Class

Theatre, visual art, and music are offered as semester courses on a rotating basis throughout the four years of middle school.  All middle school students have arts class everyday of the week.  Beginning in 08/09, instrumental music is integrated into the middle school music classes.  The semester rotation is as follows:

This rotation offers middle school students the opportunity to explore each of the primary fine arts.  It is our hope that from this, a student discovers an interest in and appreciation for the fine arts.

Theatre

The Sage Ridge School Theatre Arts Program focuses on the development of the student as a well-rounded theatre artist. Students to gain an appreciation and understanding of theatre as a collaborative art form by focusing on six primary units of study: script, direction, set, costume, lighting, sound and performance.

Music

The Sage Ridge School Music Program strives to prepare students in all essential aspects of music performance and education. The music program includes: choral music, instrumental music, music history and music theory. Sage Ridge School has an extensive music library which provides opportunities for student directed research and scholarship. In addition to academic musicianship, the music program is robust with performances during each term, as well as the annual spring musical.
