Volunteer Opportunities
SERVICE HOURS INFORMATION
Every Sage Ridge family has agreed to 20 hours of volunteering in the school community as part of their contract. This is wonderful way to get to know your child’s school better and help the Sage Ridge Community.
Steps to follow:
- Please choose the areas that you are interested in serving and sign up in the volunteer book in the office.
- Volunteer when called if it is convenient, or call event chairs to volunteer. Watch for the Sage Ridge Tuesday notes e-mail for volunteer opportunities.
- Log your hours in the office or in the lunch logbook. If you come in to serve lunch, you need to log in your time in the lunch logbook. If you are working on a committee or helping a teacher, you need to log in your time. The teacher or committee chairperson will not record your hours. Please do not forget to log your volunteer hours! This is essential. Every family needs 20 hours of volunteering by the end of the year. Please log your hours so you get the credit you deserve for helping our Sage Ridge students (after all, no mater how you help, you are helping our kids).
- When you reach 20 hours, your commitment has been fulfilled!
Q: What if I don’t have time to volunteer?
A: According to the Sage Ridge School Enrollment Contract, each individual family is responsible for contributing 20 hours of service to the school between August 2009 and June, 2010. Service hours not completed will be billed at a rate of $10 per hour at the end of the school year. There are several volunteer opportunities available for work at home, evening, or weekends. If you wish to contribute $200 at the beginning of the year, that is an option. Please make your check payable to the Sage Ridge School PA. Another option is donating a needed piece of equipment or service worth at least $200 to the school. Please contact Lisa Menante for approval.
Q: What if I only volunteer 15 hours by the end of the school year?
A: The log sheets will be collected routinely, and a running total will be kept for each family. At the end of the school year, families who have not completed 20 hours will be invoiced for the balance at a rate of $10 per hour.
Q: What if I forget to log my hours?
A: As long as it is volunteer work that helps our kids and the Service Hours Chair approves it, the hours will be counted.
Q: What if I did 40 hours last school year? Can 20 count for next year?
A: No. Each school year is considered separate.
Q: Can I give my hours to friends?
A: No. Each family needs to earn their own 20 hours as part of the community and as per the Sage Ridge contract.
Q: What if the office is closed while I am volunteering and I can’t get to the logbook?
A: You may log your hours another day or please feel free to e-mail me your hours at lmenante@charter.net. Please put “Volunteer Hours” in the subject line. Put your name, your child’s name, and the hours you have served, when you served them and how. If you choose to email your hours to me, please do not log the same hours into the logbook.
