On April 15, 2025, our Media Arts class will be taking an exciting field trip to Channel 2 KTVN CBS to gain hands-on experience in broadcast journalism. This trip will give students the opportunity to see firsthand how a professional news station operates and learn about the fast-paced environment of live television production.
During our visit, we will explore how news stories come in from the AP wire and observe how executive producers and producers craft stories for the newscast. We will also get an inside look at the control room, where we will see how graphics are built, cameras are operated, audio is managed, and how the technical director and director work together to run the show. This is a fantastic chance for students to see the collaborative effort required to deliver news to the public.
We will depart Sage Ridge at 12:30 PM and return by 4:30 PM. This experience will provide valuable insight into the world of broadcast journalism and media production, offering inspiration for students interested in careers in digital media, news, and storytelling.
