12 Angry Jurors

This Theatre season, Sage Ridge School presents 12 Angry Jurors, directed by Keely Cobb. 12 Angry Jurors is about a 19-year-old man who has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. "He doesn't stand a chance," mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case—until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts. "This is a remarkable thing about democracy," says the foreign-born juror, "that we are notified by mail to come down to this place—and decide on the guilt or innocence of a person; of a man or woman we have not known before. We have nothing to gain or lose by our verdict. We should not make it a personal thing." But personal it is, with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes! Tempers get short, arguments grow heated, and they become 12 angry jurors. The jurors' final verdict and how they reach it—in tense scenes that will electrify the audience and keep them on the edge of their seats—add up to a fine, mature piece of dramatic literature, an experience not to be missed!

"It has been wonderful working with this cast. They are so smart and have spent so much time developing their characters. I am excited for everyone to see the hard work they have put into this show!” says Director Keely Cobb. Once a year, Sage Ridge School Theatre Productions produces a seasonal play chosen from a variety of genres ranging from historical nonfiction to farcical comedy. Material is advanced and challenging for the student performer which makes each performance a showstopper! Along with intense direction, students may have the opportunity to design, construct, stage-manage, design lighting, and operate sound depending on their role in the production.  All shows are seen by audiences traveling locally as well as nationally.
 

The Director:

The production’s Director, Keely Cobb, is the Director of Theatre at Sage Ridge School. She loves working with the talented students at Sage Ridge and has greatly enjoyed putting 12 Angry Jurors together. Cobb is also the Artistic Director and choreographer for Reno’s Theatrical Dance Company, Around the Stage. She founded the company in 2018 and has self-produced six of her own evening length works. She has also worked with local theaters Bruka, Good Luck Macbeth, and Reno Little Theatre. She has a deep love for the performing arts and is so thankful to be part of this amazing Sage Ridge community.
