The Back to School BBQ was a fantastic way for new and returning Scorpions to kick off the new school year at Sage Ridge! On Monday, 15 August 2022, members of our amazing community came together to enjoy a BBQ after the first day of school.
We are grateful for the Parents Association, staff and faculty members, and dedicated volunteers for helping to put on the first SRS event of the school year! We had an excellent turnout, and it was wonderful to hear words of welcome from Head of School Tobin Bechtel and Student Body President Maddy Dutton. Mr. Bechtel expressed gratitude and excitement for the year ahead, and Maddy spoke on behalf of the student body about the great memories and special bonds our Scorpions will share during the 2022-2023 school year.
Mr. Bechtel had the opportunity to take families on tours around the Student Activities Center. Families loved seeing the progress of the new building, and some of our athletes got to stand in the location of their future court! It has been amazing to see the development of this extension of Sage Ridge School, and it was a memorable experience to walk within its walls for the first time.
Staculty members and Upper School Scorpions set up fun outdoor activities for students to participate in during the BBQ! Our Scorpions loved playing games like giant Jenga, cornhole, and Spikeball. Kids were thrilled to show off their school spirit with face painting from the SRS Art teachers and US artists. An ice cream truck stopped by after the delicious BBQ food, and all of our Scorpions were delighted by the big surprise!
Thank you for coming out to celebrate the beginning of the school year with us. We loved getting to know our new families, reconnecting after the summer break, and spending time together as a Sage Ridge community.
