Greetings debate fans!
Scorpion Debate had a strong District Tournament this past Friday and Saturday to end the ‘23-’24 Sagebrush Debate season. The District Tournament is the most competitive of the year and qualifies top debaters for the National Tournament in June.
Raghav Bhalla ‘26 and Mallory Cotton ‘27 made finals in the largest Big Questions Debate pool in District history. History teacher Mr. Robbie Adler worked closely with these two to unlock their potential. Judges praised Raghav’s “excellent clash” with his opponent and his “confidence in general.” Mallory’s comments included the fact that she “presented a clear and strong framework” and “demonstrated a thorough understanding of the topic.” BQ has never been so strong at Sage Ridge. Great work!
In the Lincoln Douglas Debate, Nanki Sandhu ‘25 posted a perfect 7-0 record on her way to a National Championship berth. Nanki’s “excellent grasp of the topic” and “great speaking style and passion” gave her a 3-0 unanimous decision in the final round. Nanki will be representing Sage Ridge in the National Tournament this June in Des Moines, Iowa. Well done!
