Sage Ridge School is proud to announce that Caleb Mulvaney ’25 has been awarded the Golden Scorpion Award—one of the highest honors a scholar-athlete can receive at our school. As we prepare to enter our 27th year, only seven students have earned this distinction, a testament to Caleb’s remarkable character, commitment, and excellence in every arena of student life.
The Golden Scorpion Award was created to recognize exceptional senior student-athletes who not only shine on the playing field but also embody leadership, effort, and sportsmanship, both in athletics and in academics. The criteria to qualify are among the most rigorous at Sage Ridge, and Caleb’s achievement reflects years of focus, passion, and integrity.
To be eligible for the Golden Scorpion Award, a student must:
- Graduate with an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Earn no semester grade lower than a D or F in Grades 11 and 12
- Complete 60 hours of community service in both Grades 11 and 12
- Complete 4 AP courses with no semester grade lower than a B–
- Earn at least a B+ on their senior thesis
- Take at least one AP in both the Humanities (English or Social Science) and STEM (Math or Science)
- Earn 12 athletic credits
- Submit confidential letters of recommendation from a current teacher and a senior-year athletic coach directly to the Athletic Director
This award isn’t simply about academic or athletic performance. It’s about how a student leads, serves, and inspires others.
Caleb’s time at Sage Ridge has been defined by humility, excellence, and impact. Whether on the soccer field, basketball court or track, in the classroom, or in the community, he has led by example as a captain and State Champion. He has contributed significantly to Sage Ridge athletics across multiple seasons, while also balancing a rigorous academic course load and leadership responsibilities in Student Government.
Caleb graduated from Sage Ridge School on Saturday, May 31, 2025, and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall. This award highlights a high school career marked by outstanding dedication and achievement. The Sage Ridge community celebrates him not just for this rare honor, but for the authenticity, effort, and leadership that brought him to this point.
Congratulations, Caleb! Your legacy as a Scorpion will continue to inspire future generations of scholar-athletes, and we’re so proud to call you a Sage Ridge graduate.
