Cade “Meta” Rombardo ’20 and Vidhi “Leopard” Pandit ’21 returned to form at this tournament and put up two strong wins on the day. Interestingly, one of their wins was against the team that eventually got second place in the tournament. One of their judges remarked on their “complete control” of the round she judged. Cade’s 107 speaker points put him fifth overall in that category. Well done!

Richard “Hugs” Liu ‘23 and Kevin “Gollum” Lu ’23 had the best tournament of their young careers as they went a perfect 4 for 4 in preliminary rounds. They made it all the way to the championship contest where they were barely edged out on a split ballot (1-2). These two have had a remarkable season as it has only taken them four tournaments to qualify for the Senior division, and tonight they become the only 9th grade duo in the league with that distinction. Richard’s 101 speaker points were good enough for fourth place in that category, and Kevin’s 106 points earned him “Top Speaker” of the tournament – no small feat. Fantastic!

Once again, Assistant Debate Coach Gary Brown got the day started by representing the team and judging the first two rounds of the day. Thank you!
