College Campus Visit Cancellations Due to COVID-19
Robert Lamb

Due to the spread of COVID-19 many colleges and universities around the country are taking precautions by cancelling campus visits from now until May or even longer in some cases. College Kickstart has released a list of campus visit cancellations that is updated daily. For high school seniors around the country hoping to attend admitted student events, these special forums may also be cancelled as a result of the spreading virus. Be sure to check with each institution's admissions office before making plans to travel to a campus.

As an alternative to on-campus tours, many colleges and universities now offer virtual tours online and may increase or enhance online options for families interested in learning more about them. YouVisit, CampusTours (with interactive virtual tours and campus maps), and eCampusTours allow you to search for such tours by institution. U.S. News and World Report also offers tips on How to Make the Most of Virtual College Tours, as "virtual college tours can be a useful sorting tool for weighing options or previewing a campus." Related resources are also available on the Sage Ridge college counseling website in our College Visit Guide.
