An exciting group of young debaters has emerged this year at SRS, and leading the way this winter has been Michelle Cho ’26. Michelle finished third in Lincoln Douglas Debate at Spring Creek High school, a very strong showing as it was just her first LD debate of her high school career. Remarkably, she came away with the tournament’s “Best Speaker” award as well. Michelle then finished the season by representing SRS at the District championships at Reno High School. She credits debate for making her “more confident and more comfortable thinking fast.” She adds, “Socially it has been fun hanging out with people in different grades and meeting kids from other schools.” Michelle has made waves this winter and has a bright future in debate.
