- Sage Ridge Spotlight
At Sage Ridge School, every student’s potential, every teacher’s innovation and every program’s growth is fueled by a community that believes in the Sage Ridge difference. Through volunteerism and gifts, the Sage Ridge community is a powerful catalyst for student success and achievement.
Last year, Sage Ridge commemorated its 25th anniversary as Reno-Tahoe’s top independent, college-preparatory school. In a celebratory year of milestones—which included the opening of the 24,000-square-foot E.L. Wiegand Student Activity Center—Sage Ridge launched an ambitious “25 Years, 25 Days” Annual Fund Campaign to raise $250,000 in 25 days.
The Scorpion community—including 100% participation from Sage Ridge faculty, staff and the Parents Association Board—alongside local sponsors, businesses and donors exceeded the goal and raised $280,000 in 25 days.
In recognition of the power of philanthropic support at Sage Ridge, the theme for this year’s Annual Fund campaign is: “Power Up,
Sage Ridge!” Every gift to the Annual Fund empowers our Scorpions to reach their fullest potential, embrace new opportunities and lead confidently. Take it from our students - listen to them here.
As an independent school and a 501(c)3 nonprofit, Sage Ridge does not receive federal or state funding and tuition does not fully cover the cost to educate a student at our school. To keep tuition accessible while continuing to offer a world-class academic and developmental experience, the Annual Fund supports the ordinary and the extraordinary, bridging the gap and enhancing all facets of a Sage Ridge education. Funds are not earmarked for specific programs, rather they support operations across all grade levels, keeping our incredibly low student-to-faculty ratio intact and providing the best equipment and resources for our students and faculty to help us in our commitment to offering Northern Nevadans a top-quality independent school education.
The gifts made to the Annual Fund support the school in the current academic year. Contributions to the 2023-24 Annual Fund elevated labs with new science equipment in Upper School, unlocked new realms of creativity with ukulele and guitar instruments for Middle School music classes, and educated Lower School adventurers on class field trips to museum and reading materials like Scholastic News.
New robotics equipment for grades 3-8 inspired our Scorpions leading to Sage Ridge earning 1st place for Innovation Project, 2nd Place Overall, and 3rd Place for Robot Game at the FIRST LEGO Robotics State Championship in January. Sage Ridge students begin language studies in 3rd grade and the Annual Fund contributed to materials to not only broaden our Scorpions’ understanding of foreign language but also their perspective of the world. The Annual Fund contributed to college prep test prep to ensure our Upper School students are equipped to translate their liberal arts for a modern world education into a successful test-taking experience—essential for thriving in a demanding and highly competitive college admissions environment.
