On June 9, 2020, Governor Sisolak issued the following pertaining to Nevada schools opening fields/facilities for sports and athletics.
Declaration of Emergency Directive 022. Section 7:
“County school districts, charter schools, and private schools may reopen school athletic fields and facilities for student athletics training, practices, and competition in accordance with guidance promulgated by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) and any applicable conditions set forth by directive regarding athletic events…”
Based on this directive, Sage Ridge School is working with the NIAA, Tah-Neva, all coaches, administrators, and the interim athletic director to develop plans and protocols around student athlete health and safety so that we can reopen our fields and facilities. Planning and implementation, complete with training of those involved, is in progress and Sage Ridge School is planning to resume sports as soon as possible.
In preparation for this, there will be a mandatory training, to be facilitated by Sage Ridge personnel, for any and all sports coaches and athletic administrators who plan on hosting summer practices. The purpose of this mandatory training, is to provide clear direction and information that each coach and student athlete must follow in order to access Sage Ridge School athletic fields and facilities.
Student athletes can expect to receive information and details from coaches in the upcoming weeks. Each student athlete is required to submit a waiver and email acknowledgment before training can begin.
