The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA), the governing body of Nevada high school sports, presents a championship award each year to the team with the highest unweighted grade point average (GPA) in each sport per division per season.

Sage Ridge Varsity Girls Volleyball and Varsity Boys Soccer teams each placed first in their division, earning the top spot with their commitment to academics, and both teams had the highest average GPA out of all NIAA divisions (1A-5A) in their sport.

Varsity Girls Volleyball placed first in division 1A with the average unweighted GPA on the team of 3.87. Varsity Boys Soccer placed first in division 3A with the team average unweighted GPA of 3.73.

The NIAA and Jostens, the awards partner for the NIAA, said in a press release that they "consider this state academic championship award to be equal to the athletic championship award," emphasizing that participants in Nevada high school sports are "students first, then athletes."

Congratulations to the student-athletes on our Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Boys Soccer teams!
