The 2023 racing season started officially for Rhys Ferrito ('28) in San Francisco a few weeks ago!
He participated in a large running event, the "Kaiser Permanente Thrive Half Marathon/10K/5K" together with other 10,000 runners approx.
Despite the awful weather (wind and rain, and hail too at times) he won his age group (12 & Under) in the 5k and finished 24th overall out of 1,750 runners in that race!
More importantly, he got a personal record with his 18:56 finish time, which currently is a national record in the year 2023 for a 12-year-old in the United States.
Rhys insisted on wearing his SRS singlet and showing school spirit even though it wasn't a school race.
