Scorpion Rhys Ferrito set a new Sage Ridge Freshman Cross Country record for the 4,000-meter run at the Oakmont Invitational in Roseville, CA, on Saturday, August 31, 2024.
With Ferrito’s time of 14:52, the freshman beat Sage Ridge’s previous 4,000-meter Freshman Cross Country record of 16:03 set by Logan Reeves ‘22 in 2018. Ferrito finished 16th out of 177 competitors in the 9th-grade race.
Sixty schools from Northern Nevada and Northern California competed in the meet. The Scorpions had two competitors: Ferrito in the Freshman race and Tyler Jensen-Eykamp ‘26 in the Varsity race. Jensen-Eykamp finished the Varsity race with a time of 16:34.
It was an eventful second meet of the 2024 Varsity Cross Country season and we're wishing the Scorpions success at the North Tahoe Madman Mills Mountain Motivational on Saturday, Sept. 7!
