Scorpion Adrian Cheung '29 with 2025 Northern Nevada MATHCOUNTS awards.
Congratulations to our Sage Ridge Middle School students for their outstanding performance at the 2025 Northern Nevada MATHCOUNTS competition! Our talented team, comprised of Siva Nair '30, Charlie Illg '29, Henry Song '29, Nathan Sharma '29, Cloudia Jin '29, and Adrian Cheung '29, secured an impressive third-place finish in the team competition. Their hard work, problem-solving skills, and teamwork truly paid off and Sage Ridge will advance to the State MATHCOUNTS competition next month in the team and individual competitions, showcasing the collective strength and determination of our Scorpions.
Adrian Cheung '29 achieved an incredible fourth-place finish in the individual competition and was recognized as Sage Ridge's top student. As a result, Cheung, along with teammates Nair, Illg, Song, and Sharma, will represent Sage Ridge at State in the individual competitions, too.
MATHCOUNTS is a prestigious nationwide mathematics competition that challenges middle school students with complex problem-solving and critical-thinking tasks. Through rigorous preparation, students develop advanced mathematical skills, teamwork, and confidence. We commend our students and their coaches for their dedication and success and wish them luck at the State competition!

Sage Ridge School's Siva Nair '30, Charlie Illg '29, Nathan Sharma '29, Henry Song '29 and Cloudia Jin '29 at the 2025 Northern Nevada MATHCOUNTS competition. Sage Ridge will advance to the 2025 MATHCOUNTS Nevada state competition as a team and as individuals.
Scorpion Adrian Cheung '29 placed 4th in the individual competition at the MATHCOUNTS Northern Nevada 2025 Chapter Competition. The top 20 individual competitiors advance to the state competition which will include Sage Ridge students Cheung, Nair, Song, Illg and Sharma in the individual competition.
