Sage Ridge Junior Classical League (JCL) proudly hosted the NVJCL state convention on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. Attendees from four Nevada schools came together to do community service, make deep dives into Greek and Roman topics in colloquia sessions, compete in arts and academic contests, and more!
The 21 Sage Ridge Latin students who attended not only had a great time, but they also had great success at the convention, earning a total of 14 first place, 17 second place, and 9 third place finishes in individual competitions on Saturday.
Katy Illg '27 led among the Sage Ridge attendees with three first-place awards in academic contests, and six awards overall. Owen Heaphy '27 and Tyler Calder '29 also notably earned two first-place finishes each.
Special congratulations and thanks to Ben Browder '24, the NVJCP State Convention President and NVJCL executive board member, whose hard work and planning made this convention, praised by all attendees as the best state convention in years, a triumphant success.
