Sage Ridge School proudly announces the launch of the public phase of its AIM (Achieve, Innovate and Magnify) Capital Campaign, a three-phase building project. The school is committed to expanding its campus to better serve the educational and facility needs of the growing community. The first phase is a Student Activity Center with a campaign goal of $7 million, almost half of which has already been raised.

The 24,004-square-foot Student Activity Center boasts a 13,000-square-foot gymnasium with a top-tier maple hardwood floor and bleacher seating for 756. The facility also will include a state-of-the-art fitness center, modern locker rooms, athletic office, concessions stand, concourse, Hall of Fame and several multipurpose academic and social lounges.

Groundbreaking for the Student Activity Center is anticipated in May 2021, and the facility is slated for completion this coming winter.

“This is such an exciting day for our Sage Ridge students, faculty and families and for the wider Reno community,” Head of School Tobin Bechtel said. “The Student Activity Center will serve as the heart and home of our campus and will allow us to continue to build on our reputation of educational excellence. It will be a one-of-a-kind facility that will have a positive impact not only on Sage Ridge but also on our region.”

The Student Activity Center represents the first phase of the building project on Sage Ridge’s 40-plus-acre campus. Future phases include a Knowledge Lab and a Performing Arts Theater.

“This upgrade to our campus demonstrates the significant commitment and investment Sage Ridge School is making to aggressively advance and strengthen our athletics program and to elevate our academic and competition spaces to match Sage Ridge’s standard of excellence and provide our outstanding students an exceptional and well-rounded education,” said Sallie Armstrong, who chairs Sage Ridge School’s Board of Trustees.

Armstrong continued, “Sage Ridge has secured significant donations for the first phase of this project, including naming rights to the 13,000-square-foot gymnasium and basketball/volleyball court, which will be announced to the public in the coming weeks. Our bold and exciting investment in the Student Activity Center will have an incredible impact at Sage Ridge and throughout Northern Nevada.”

With Reno’s increased demand for new and updated facilities, the Student Activity Center will serve as a quality venue for the community — for youth sports tournaments, academic competitions and special events. Additionally, Reno’s economic growth — fueled by the influx of growing innovative industries and a workforce with educational priorities — means greater demand for an outstanding college preparatory school. Sage Ridge aims to partner in Reno’s growing success by supporting companies and families moving to the greater Reno/Tahoe area who value educational excellence.
