Alexandra Chuck

Mr. John Sloyan, Sage Ridge School Upper School English teacher and Speech & Debate Coach, has been awarded a 1st Diamond degree of membership by the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA)—a prestigious honor recognizing his extraordinary dedication to student development through speech and debate.

This award reflects more than just time and talent—it signifies that Mr. Sloyan has accumulated over 15,000 points through his students’ competitive success, leadership, and service. His impact extends far beyond the classroom, empowering students to find their voice, master the art of persuasion, and build confidence that lasts a lifetime.

“Because of you, countless students have gained access to the life-changing activity of speech and debate,” NSDA Executive Director J. Scott Wunn wrote in a letter acknowledging the milestone.

Mr. Sloyan’s coaching has guided Scorpions to excel in local, state, and national competitions.

We thank Mr. Sloyan for his leadership, belief in the power of student voice, and continued commitment to academic and personal excellence.

Congratulations, Mr. Sloyan, and thank you for being a pillar of our community!
