Each athletics season, the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) presents a special award to the team with the highest grade point average (GPA) in each sport’s division. At the Sage Ridge Winter 2025 Sports Banquet, Athletic Director Sierra Starbuck presented the NIAA first-place All-State Academic Team award to the Varsity Girls Ski Team.
The team GPA is determined using varsity team members’ unweighted GPAs from the last semester and computing an overall GPA. The NIAA “considers the State Academic Championship award equal to the Athletic Championship award. As the NIAA’s coaches and administrators always stress, the participants are students first, then athletes.”
- Varsity Girls Ski: First place with an unweighted 3.97 overall team GPA.
- Varsity Girls Basketball: Second place with an unweighted 3.85 overall team GPA.
- Varsity Boys Basketball: Third place with an unweighted 3.63 overall team GPA.
- Varsity Boys Ski: Third place with an unweighted 3.59 overall team GPA.
The NIAA Academic Team State Championship “celebrates teamwork not only in sports competitions but also in the classroom.”
