In Quarter 1, students in grade 6 learned the basics of music production. Students learned basic music theory and applied these concepts to music they created themselves in a Digital Audio Workstation, then combined these concepts to create their final projects. Students composed their own 8 measure melody, then were required to fragment their melody to create different sections, extend pieces of their melody and lower them to create a bass line, and shorten pieces of their melody and raise the pitch to create variety. Beyond the basic requirements, each student was free to make their own creative decisions, including instrument choice, tempo, and adding other tracks. Listen to some of their creations below!
