Tempora mutants nos et mutamur in illis
Tobin Bechtel

This has been a week of farewells which always has its highs and lows. I believe it is important to keep in mind an ancient adage - Tempora mutants nos et mutamur in illis - times change and we change with them. While we are a relatively young school, we have our traditions, we have our pillars. Students, teachers and staff transition but are part of a greater good. In a small community like ours the impact of change often looms large.

Yet we must remember that every member of our community leaves a lasting legacy.

On behalf of our entire community I want to recognize and appreciate those staculty members who were laid off earlier this spring and will not be returning for the 2020-2021 school year. We thank the following people for their service to Sage Ridge:

  • Charlotte Carpenter
  • Pat Casey
  • Cameron Crain
  • Brenda Johns

We also want to recognize and extend gratitude to those staculty members who will be departing Sage Ridge this summer for new challenges and endeavors:

  • Michele Crain
  • Keith de Lancey
  • Kimball Iverson
  • Linda Stanton
  • Jill Strawder-Bubala

This year has imposed change on our world and our community that we never expected. I doubt we will ever be the same. James Stockdale famously observed that, “What separates people (and organizations) is not the presence or absence of difficulty, but how they deal with the inevitable difficulties of life.” Our small community is strong and is dealing with the difficulties of changing times with courage. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our community this year. We wish you a safe, healthy, and relaxing summer break.

With gratitude, Tobin
