Junior Varsity and Varsity Boys Basketball
Another historic season for the SRS Varsity Boys Basketball program.
The JV boys not only fielded a team for the first time in school history for any team sport, but they finished their season 5-5 and undefeated in league play.
As for the Varsity boys, they continued to add to their list of historic accomplishments. Sage Ridge Varsity Boys Basketball defeated 5A Carson HS, marking the first time a Sage Ridge team has taken down a 5A team in school history. This is also one of only a handful of instances that a 1A team has defeated a 5A team in the history of the state.
In league play, SRS Varsity Boys Basketball once again went undefeated, concluding a 2-season stretch with a cumulative 16-0 league record. They earned the #1 seed heading into the 1A West regional tournament along with a first-round bye. They defeated Sierra Lutheran in the semifinal before overcoming a 12-point deficit in the regional championship game to beat Pyramid Lake HS, claiming the 1A West Regional Championship!
The boys are now headed to the Nevada 1A State Basketball Tournament, where they will face off with Eureka HS tomorrow at 8:00 pm at Wooster HS. Come out and cheer on our regional championship team!
Varsity Girls Basketball
SRS Varsity Girls Basketball concluded another strong season with back-to-back years finishing 3rd in the 1A West with a 5-2 league record. For the second year in a row, they earned a home playoff game at Marce Herz MS where they defeated Virginia City HS in the opening round of the regional playoff tournament. They advanced to the regional semifinal game at Sierra Lutheran, falling to Coleville HS in a hard-fought game. Great season, ladies!
Varsity Ski
Our SRS Varsity skiers have fought hard all season long to overcome a mountain of adversity this Winter. Fortunately, they have been led by team captain Maddy Dutton and interim head coach Brad Dutton to ensure a fun and successful season. They have also put in a ton of hard work this season. After competing in all 5 races this season, our 9 skiers are headed off to the state ski races today and tomorrow at Mt Rose. Go out to the slopes to support our skiers - good luck to them!
MS Girls Volleyball
Our MS Girls Volleyball teams made great strides this season. Although neither team qualified for their respective end-of-season tournaments, they battled each and every match and showed great improvement over the course of the season. The girls and coaches showed dedication and determination in practice and were committed to the process. They have such high potential and will look forward to building on this in the offseason and into next year!
