In 2018 Sage Ridge School received a grant from the E.L. Wiegand Foundation to bring innovation to the school. The introduction of the Innovation Lab in the 2018-19 school year was an amazing experience. Students were exposed to 3D printing, virtual reality, Adobe Creative Cloud, audio and video creation and editing, fundamental electronics and coding skills using Raspberry PI devices, and so much more. Toward the end of the school year we realized we could do so much more if we could combine the robotics and engineering equipment with the Innovation lab. A larger classroom was found that has become our Innovation/Robotics lab and Makerspace.
Beyond the engineering course, students and teachers alike are welcome to join us in the lab to develop new ideas for teaching or try a new piece of technology. As we prepare our students for the future, developing an understanding of technology will be one of the many skills they develop at Sage Ridge School that will serve them well in college and beyond.
