Jess Thibault

Despite a shorted season last school year, Alex Power ('22) achieved both the GPA and race times needed to be included in the 2019-2020 Scholastic All-America Swim Team!

According to USA Swimming, "The honor is given to 9-12th grade students who maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and have swum an individual pool time equal to or faster than the 2019 Winter Junior qualifying time in any individual event from August 16, 2019-August 31, 2020."

Alex started swimming when he was just 5 years old in Danville, California for the Crow Canyon Sea Lions. Since living in Reno, he has swum for Lakeridge, and then Sage Ridge School once he started high school. He would like to continue swimming in college. For now, he practices 9 times a week at the Idlewild and Northwest pools.

Alex says, "Swimming has given me really good time management skills. With a lot of practices I have to use time well, and find a good balance between practice, homework, and leisure time."
