Girls on the Run at Sage Ridge just wrapped up our second season! This program for our third, fourth and fifth grade girls combines running with lessons on friendship, empathy, working through difficult situations, and building self esteem. The girls learn to look within themselves to activate their star power to achieve any goal that they set their minds to. Our biweekly lessons combined physical exercise with these very important life lessons. We also participated in a community impact project along with the Girls on the Run of the Sierras Community Team in which we painted rocks with positive messages that are now in the rose garden at Idlewild Park to inspire park walkers as they pass through the garden. Our season culminated with a 5K run at the Aces Stadium on Halloween. Mr. Bechtel and Mr. Farnsworth joined our team as they achieved their goal of completing a 5K. The girls cheered each other on as each of them passed through the finish line. We look forward to another season next fall and encourage all interested 3rd-5th grade girls to join us!
