Upper School Events MADD Power of You(th) Presentation to Upper School
-
Upper School Loft, Crossbow Building

Power of You(th) Presentations Power of You(th) is a 45-minute interactive session designed for students featuring the latest statistics from the CDC, NHTSA, and NIH to inform students, along with discussion and reflection questions to inspire thoughtful engagement. Real-life victim and survivor stories are spotlighted (either through a video or a guest speaker) to help students understand the severity of the issue, aiming to impart a deep understanding of why they should never ride with an impaired driver. The presentation equips students with the skills necessary to make safe and smart decisions for themselves, both now and in the future.

Students will learn:

* What are substances?

* What do alcohol, cannabis, and medications do to the undeveloped brain and body?

* What is impairment? What substances are impairing? When does impairment begin? Why is the law 21 for alcohol (and cannabis in some states)?   Health risks, dangers, and consequences of underage substance use. Ways to say no to underage substance use. How to get out of a dangerous situation. Never ride with an impaired driver.

If you have any questions, please contact Heather Power at hpower@sageridge.org or (775) 852-6222 ext. 522
