Seussical! Brings a Season of Storytelling to Life at Sage Ridge — Tickets Now Available
From the first curtain rise in the fall to the final bow this spring, theatrical performance has been a defining thread of student life at Sage Ridge School. Across three productions and every grade of the school, students have stepped into roles that challenge them creatively, build confidence, and strengthen community—culminating this April with the Broadway musical Seussical!, with tickets now on sale.

🎟️ Tickets for Seussical! are available now.
Sage Ridge School Theatre Productions annually stages three shows, offering students across all grades opportunities to perform onstage and contribute behind the scenes. This year’s lineup reflected the breadth of the program, spanning comedic plays, classic storytelling, and a large-scale musical that brings together students of all ages, abilities, and experience levels.
The season opened in November with A Night of One Acts, a fast-paced fall play featuring middle and upper school students in two comedic works, The Ransom of Emily Jane and Nobody Sleeps!. In December, the spotlight shifted to the Lower School, where students in grades 1–5 presented Aesop’s Fables, an energetic, interactive retelling of four timeless stories.
These extracurricular productions, combined with theatre coursework during the day, reflect artistic expression as well as Sage Ridge’s pillars of Scholarship, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Community in action. Students analyze text and character with scholarly depth. They demonstrate respect for one another’s ideas and creative risks. They practice integrity through preparation and accountability. They show courage each time they step on stage. And perhaps most visibly, they build community across grade levels, mentoring one another and working toward a shared goal.
“Theatre at Sage Ridge isn’t just about putting on a show—it’s about giving students meaningful responsibility and ownership at every level,” said Anastasia Purvance, Sage Ridge’s Theatre Director. “Whether they’re performing, directing, designing, or stage managing, students are learning collaboration, problem-solving, and how to trust their own creative voices.”
That arc continues this spring with Seussical!, the school’s annual musical, featuring students from across grade levels. Known for its inclusive casting and joyful energy, the production explores themes of friendship, loyalty, family, and community through the imaginative world of Dr. Seuss. Performance dates are April 17, 18, 24, and 25, and tickets are now available.
This year’s musical is guided by guest visionary director Nina Meehan, an acclaimed playwright and arts educator whose work centers on transformative, multi-generational theatre experiences. Meehan brings more than two decades of professional experience, with recent projects including Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, the Musical, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, the Musical, and Grumpy Monkey, the Musical.
For Sage Ridge, theatrical performance is not confined to the stage—it is deeply connected to classroom learning and the school’s whole-child philosophy.
“Theatre develops skills students carry far beyond the performance space,” said Dr. Ginger Hovenic, Head of School. “In the classroom and through extracurricular productions, students learn to think critically, communicate clearly, collaborate with empathy, and take creative risks. Those experiences are essential to developing confident, capable young people.”
With rehearsals taking place after school and productions spanning fall, winter, and spring, theatre remains a visible and vibrant part of campus life. As Seussical! prepares to take the stage, the season stands as a reminder that at Sage Ridge, storytelling is both an art form and a powerful educational tool.
